Cowboy Preacher Praying before Church

Each Sunday before church the preacher stands by his truck and prays for the service. This particular sunday it was Father's Day. He preached on what characteristics do you portray? It was a good service.

Happy Fathers Day Grandpa

Jessie and Katie sent Grandpa a Happy Fathers Day email. It's nice to know that the grandchildren love and think of Grandpa. They asked him what he was doing and write back. We love you too Katie and Jessie!!! Grandpa had a nice Father's Day, his daughter and grandson took him to dinner, and he was greeted for the day by phone calls by two of his sons. Church gave out gifts to all the Dad's. His grandson in Nevada emailed him and wished him a happy father's day. It was good day!!

Womens Day at Cowboy Church

Tanya and I went to the Women's Day meeting at the Cowboy Church. We were to bring a picture of ourselves of something we like to do and also a picture when we were younger. The topic was "Getting to Know Your Gifts". We each made a poster board using our pictures and cut-outs from magazines and design it. It was fun to see what each likes to do and to see what their gifts are. Each month this womens group meets and does different projects. They also are starting an exercise class next Saturday. It was a fun morning.

Tanya and Mom at Texas State Museum

Jerry took pictures of us by some of the exhibits. Tanya was standing on the third floor and Jerry took a picture of her from the other side of the balcony. She hasn't been in Texas too long and hasn't seen much so we invited her along to sight see with us for the day. A good time was enjoyed by all. We even bought a membership to the museum!!

Texas State History Museum

We spent a day visiting the Texas State History Museum in Austin, TX. The museum is filled with many exhibits and an IMAX Theatre. They offer tours daily. One of the tours is the Story of Texas which highlights a glimpse of Texas of all three exhibit floors. We enjoyed learning about Texas and its history.

Buda, Texas Outdoor Capitol

On one of our day trips we went through the small town of Buda, TX. They had some beautiful old churchs and nice homes. But, we never expected to see one of our favorite sporting good store, Cabella's in this small town. But, of course we had to stop, NOT!!!

Cowboy Churchs in Texas

There are several cowboy churches throughout Texas. Our friends, Heidi and Charles, from Alabama, told us they had visited a large one while traveling through Texas. As we were driving to our daughter's house, we saw another cowboy church and decided to visit them. They hold services on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. We have been there twice now and will continue to visit while we are here in Texas. They don 't take up offerings, so we wondered how they meet their expenses. There is a mail drop box in the back of the church titled, "tithes and offerings". This is the first church we have been to that hasn't even mentioned money. The church building reminds me of going to "camp meeting", cement floors, (BTW, with mice droppings or rabbit pellets?), cob webs, all the wooden pews look like they were donated. The windows on the side of the church all roll up like garage doors. I enjoy the campground feel, as those were some of the best days of my childhood, going to camp. Not sure how old the preacher is, but, regardless, he still loves to preach and pray.
