Old Bridge

We drove over this old bridge to see one of the painted churches. On the way back across the bridge we saw the sign "weak bridge". Great warning!!!! It was a neat bridge though!

Painted Churches

We're have been out sight seeing, and ran across a small town Schullenburg, TX, which has a painted churches tour. We saw some beutiful churches built in the 1800's that have been painted and undergoing church restorations. There is about 8 painted churches in this small town. This is only one of them. All the churches were open and we were able to take pictures of the beautifully painted walls and ceilings inside the churches as well as the outside. Very beautiful to see. Each church has a church restoration fund inside to donate too to continue the work on the churches.

Cute Squirrels , but aggressive

See what I mean!! These darn squirrels love the bird seed as much as the birds. You can walk right up to them and they don't care as long as they can eat. You can tell this one hasn't gone without!!

Yellow Finches

We are really enjoying the Yellow finches in our yard. We have at least 75 finces a day that come to be fed. They love the food. They hang out in the oak trees and every few minutes fly back to the bird feeders for more food. Jerry is filling up the bird feeders once a day. Right now they are about half full. The squirrels like the feed equally as well, so we try to run them off so we can enjoy the birds. We're looking forward to seeing what other kinds of birds we will have this winter. They're is supposed to be many kinds.

Newest addition to our House

We just had a new 6' white fence up and it really has made a difference. We love the privacy. Jerry is planting a garden directly behind it for Spring.

Enjoying God's Creatures

Even the animals find a retreat at our new home. The squirrels run up and down the huge oak trees and the geico's are everywhere. We have a huge hawk that just sits and waits for the birds and squirrels to get him. It is alot of fun watching the little creatures and birds that find a refuge here.

Mom & Tanya Bonding During Christmas Holidays

This is the first time in many, many years that I and my daughter have baked christmas cookies in the same kitchen!! We had a lot of fun, and enjoyed the time soo much. We baked several kinds, but the biggest hit was the macaroons Tanya made. We wrapped gift plates for family and friends and her office workers. When all done, Tanya presented Jerry his gift plate along with Mister. It was a wonderful time with Mom and daughter. Thank you Tanya for taking the time to spend in our new home. Also, this is our first christmas in our new retirement home!! We're looking forward for many to come.
