Meet Dottie

One of the nice things about traveling is the people we meet along the way. You met Molly, now meet Dottie. She is a very special friend and mentor to my sister. She invited us to her home for lunch and shared with us with warmth and fellowship. Dottie also has a very special home, as she has lived there for 30 years. Her and her husband were originally from St Louis. They went to Cherryville for vacation and eventually bought this old school house and remodeled it and used it for a get-a-way. Eventually after he retired they moved into it. The fireplace is the original rock that was in the house when it was a school. It has a lot of sentimental memories. Molly's husband in his last days was a diabetic and she changed her way of cooking. Now she cooks everything from scratch. She baked us Zucchini bread and made coffee and we visited. Mary and I sang to her. Oh, what I haven't mentioned is, that Dottie has lost her voice, due to lung cancer. She is in her last stages and was given six months to live, however, she told us she still has some things she wants and needs to do. Thank you for your love and sharing and caring you give each and every day. This was truly a very special day. We love you Dottie!!
