Meeting the Harnesses in Needles, CA

We met up with Charles and Heidi, in their first new motorhome, at Needles RV & Marina Park. We spent two nights there and listened to their experiences driving and traveling in a motorhome for their first time. The stories were great, been there done that. The guys played golf one day in the wind, but they still had fun. Heidi and I just talked girl talk. We plan to meet them along our travels on the way back. Have fun in California guys!!

First Southern Baptist Church

This past winter we attended this First Southern Baptist Church in Pahrump, NV. We made a lot of friends, and were very active ourselves. I played the piano, and played with a very talented organist. We had a great time playing together. It's been many years since I played for church services. But, I was blessed by playing for them. Jerry sang a few times, and of course they loved his singing. The preacher was sick one Sunday evening, so Jerry preached that evening. Again, he hasn't preached in quite a few years either. I'm sure we will see them again.

Mom's 80th Birthday

After several months of planning for Mom's 80th birthday, it was here and gone. She had asked for two things, and she got one of the two. Not bad! She wanted to have the Sweet Adelines sing for her and her friends. They graciously came and sang for her, and she was totally surprised, as she didn't think that would ever happen. The name of the group is the "Celebrity City Chorus", and also presented her with their autographs on a picture poster board. It was a wonderful surpise. We had dinner at the Olive Garden with her brother (on the one side and her sister on the other from Washington State and Oregon. It was hopefully a birthday she won't forget. Happy 80th Mom!

Jerry's 66th Birthday

He really hates to be reminded of his age. He's not into birthdays and parties, but I we had a nice dinner anyway with my brother and his wife and my son and his family at Olive Garden. He loves the spagetti there!! Happy Birthday, honey!!!

Proud Mama Dove

We've been watching the mama dove sit on her eggs and hatch new babies in the last couple days. She made her nest on the back of the fifth wheel right next to us. They are really cute.

We met Ed and Gail from Toronto, Canada this year at Preferred RV. They were my water aerobics buddies. They are alot of fun and a friend to everyone. I haven't met anyone who hasn't enjoyed their friendship. They have many friends in the states because of their friendliness. They will be leaving in May. Not sure that we will see them next year, but we will definitely keep in touch. Have a safe trip home Ed and Gail!!

Water Aerobics at Preferred RV Resort

Preferred RV Resort offers lots of activities. The one I enjoyed the most is the water aerobics. Each day at 10:00am we had our class. It ranged between 15-18 during the winter months. The pool was covered until April 10, 2008. This picture was taken a couple days after the top was taken down, and alot of the snow birds have left. Gail, the woman with the flowered suit in front, has also been a good friend to me. I will miss the water aerobics. We also enjoy water volleyball and its a great place to sun bathe. (Janet, another friend is sun bathing with her friend from Oregon. This is a great place to meet people.

Dantes View

One of our day trips to Dantes View, in Death Valley. Dantes View was several hundred feet high and overlooked Death Valley mountains. The mountains change continuously. The huge block of earth crust that is slowly tilting away. Its fard edge is the rising crest of the Panamint Range mountains under they are moving to the left as well as rising. The eroding mountains fill the valley at the same rate it sinks. This fault block basis we call Death Valley has no outlet to the sea minerals washed down from the mountains are there to stay. Quite a view!!!

Desert Living and Beautiful sunsets

We bought into this RV park a few years ago, and have enjoyed the past two winters here at Preferred RV Park. We have the mountains all around us, Mt. Charleston has had lots of snow that we have been able to see. Even though we haven't had snow ourselves. We have enjoyed beautiful sunsets and rainbows. Their hasn't been much rain since we have been here. We got here around Thanksgiving. We will be leaving April 28, 2008. We would have left sooner, however, the weather has not been that good around the states. Also, I wanted to stay around to celebrate my Mom's 80th birthday. We have enjoyed day trips to the surrounding areas, Death Valley, Armagosa, Furnace Creek, and many other pretty places.

Sierra Oaks Independent Retirement Living

In February we started looking for another place for my Mom to live, as they had raised the rates so high in the past three years. We were fortunate to find a place similar and a much better layout then Montaro Meadows. My sister and I and sister-in-law, along with other family members moved her in March 1st. As you can see it is a very lovely one bedroom apartment, along with many amenities, ie, housekeeping, three meals a day in a lovely dining room, lots of activities. She has already met a male friend, Clarence, whom, she likes very much and only lives two doors down from her. She will be 80 in April, so I am trying to plan her 8oth birthday.

Son and Daughter-in-law from Washington State

My son, Paul and his wife, Lisa, surprised us by flying from Washington state to Las Vegas to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. This is the first time they have gone anywhere without taking their 3 boys. They thought it was time to get away for an anniverary. We had dinner with them and our son Jerry and his family the night they left. It was great to see them. They loved Las Vegas and enjoyed the shows. After dinner we walked around the Bass Pro Shop. They have a beautiful aquarium with sea divers. They were fasinating to watch as they so graciously swam through the aquarium.

She had her whole pre-school class there along with all the family, her other grandparents, and lots of friends and family. She had to read every birthday card!! She loved it!! We were glad we were around to spend her birthday with everyone.

During the Christmas holidays we went to Montaro Meadows Retirement Home and the family put on a Christmas party for the residents. My brother playe Santa and I played Christmas music on the old piano, Jerry took over 100 pictures of the residents with Santa. My sister-in-law played Mrs. Santa, and my brother Mark and David and son with their families sang. It was a big hit with the residents. One lady said she had never had her picture taken with Santa!! 87 years old!!!
