We visited Arches National Park. Water and ice, extreme temperatures, and underground salt movement are responsible for the sculptured rock scenery of the park. There are more than 2,000 cataloged arches.
Today, new arches are being formed and old ones are being destroyed. We had a great time taking pictures of the arches. It is definitely worth visiting.
On our drive down the mountain after several hours we saw the most beautiful sunsets against the red rock mountains. Beautiful!!!
After driving all day we finally stopped at little restaurant in Bicknell, UT. When asked if wanted desert the waitress told us they had the best Pickled Pie, which tastes something like mincemeat. Buttermilk pie, which tasted like lemon chiffon pie, Pinto Bean pie which tastes like pinto bean, and Oatmeal Pie which tastes a lot like sweet oatmeal granola. They offer a sampler plate so we had a bite of each piece of pie. My favorite was the Pickled Pie. The food was very good and the samplers of the pie made the whole dinner. Glad we found this restaurant along the way!! 
Lost Creek was approximately 9,000 ft going down the other side of mountain crossing to Fish Lake. There were several cattle, deer and little cabins along the way. Beautiful country!
My son Jerry explores the sky high road to Fish lake. Although it was an interesting trip it wasn't planned. We were just out for the day sightseeing. We took I-70 across the mountain (at left) which was approximately 11,000 ft high. We saw the most beautiful scenery, the flowers were in bloom, the meadows were lush and green. We ended up the back side of Fish Lake, UT, where he has been several times before.
The Milford Bench Fire was the largest fire in the history of the State of Utah. It burned approximately six days. We could smell the smoke and see the ashes fall from the sky from the RV park where we are staying, which is approximately 10 miles. We took a drive to Milford to see the after effects of the fire. The fire fighters are still watching the area. This year has a been a very dry year and there has been several fires.
We visited several State parks and National Parks. Corn Creek is a small state park with low elevation, very plush and green and very wooded. The Paiute Trail can be accessed from this park for several hundred miles. My son and his son rode stayed at this park last August and rode 150 miles on their quads from this particular site. We might try it some time. The streams provided very good fishing.
Beaver is an old city and they have refurbished several buildings which are still being used today. The Post Office is used. The grandkids other grandpa lives in Beaver and he has a post office box here.
We spent the afternoon at the Butch Cassidy Carnival with the grandkids. As you can see Ashley found plenty to do. The cake walk, the clown who made her a sword, and the bounce house. She had fun!!
We are staying here until July 18, 2007 at Beaver Campground. Very interesting campsites. The owner allows each camper staying here to build their own outdoor cabin as long as the dwellling is rustic, he supplies the wood. A camper pays $1000 per year and the space is theirs to do whatever they want. That's pretty cheap living!! . The owner is 78 years old, married Maria, 23 years younger than him. Maria's mexican food is the best in Beaver. The owner rides a bicycle 365 days out of the year and he wears ear muffs to keep the sun off his ears. He said everyone thinks he is wierd, but he thinks that of everyone else. Like I said, very intersting campground!
