Regular playing cards just don't have large enough letters to be
able to see if a person is legally blind!! Mom asked me to design some playing cards just for her, she is one of those people, and she loves to play cards and is not ready to give up quite yet! My sister and I enjoyed an afternoon playing cards with Mom. Before I left, she had many other suggestions for games for the low vision impaired. I can see I will be busy!!

Rhyolite National Historic Site
The largest ghost town in Death Valley. It was the third larget city in Nevada by 1908. And the population reached approximately 10,000 in the city during its peak between 1905-1911. Many ruins remain today. The jail still remains with steel doors and barred windows. There is also a two room brothel house approximately 50 feet from the jail. The Tonopah Railroad Depot was completed in 1909 and is still standing today.
Tom Kelly Bottle House and Cook Bank
The bottle house was one of three bottle houses to be built in Rhyolite. Mr. Kelly used approximately 30,000 bottles before he completed the house. He didn't wash them because water lines had not been laid yet. It took him 5 1/2 months to complete the house. Lewis Murphy took care of the bottle house from 1936 until 1954. He invited tourists to view the townsite. This was the beginning of Rhyolite becoming a popular ghost town. Many other ruins still remain today including the three-story bank building, the largest building in Rhyolite. It cost Mr. Cook $90,000 to build. No matter where you stood you could see the Cook Bank building. This building is the most photographed ruin the State of Nevada.
