Saying Goodbye to the Moore Family

This week went by really fast. Lisa had dinner ready for us every evening at 6:00 pm. What a treat!! They are a very busy family with four girls in school and Mom going back to school and Dad working full time at the church. We loved seeing you. Thank you again for the wonderful meals!

Birmingham South Campground RV Park

This was our home for one week as we visited the Moore family. We weren't there much as we stayed so busy. The campground seemed to be a very popular campground as it was right off the interstate. It's nice to be moving again!

Visiting the Moore's Church

We visited church with Terry and Lisa and the girls. We enjoyed the Pastor's message. It was wonderful to see so many youth worship and get so involved in the services. The choir added a lot to the service.

Historic Alabama Home

We enjoyed seeing the old homes in Alabama. Jerry of course liked the old trucks. These items are on the Birmingham Zoo property. The zoo had great settings and created beautiful habitats for the animals and the many displays.

Birmingham Zoo

We enjoyed an afternoon at the Birmingham Zoo. They have some beautiful animals. They only have one elephant as he died last week, so we missed seeing the elephants. Jerry got some great camera shots with his zoom feature. I will be making lots of t-shirt iron-ons and so many animals to choose from!!

Visiting the Islands

Two of the Moore sisters share a room. They had so much in creating an island atmosphere in decorating their room. They were so proud to show us their creativity. All the girls rooms are on the upper level of their home.

Nichole is so proud of her room. She picked out the colors, designed, and painted her own room. She's working on the closest now. You did a great job!!

What Kids Wouldn't Like This

The Moore girls have it all!! They live on the basement level of their home. We didn't see much of them as they were always playing pool or watching the big screen TV. Pretty nice!!

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

We visited the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. I especially enjoyed the Japaneese Gardens and the Rain forest. They were all quite beautiful considering Alabama has been in the worst drought in 52 years.

Oak Mountain State Park

While visiting in Birmingham, we checked out this park. Oak Mountain, Alabama's largest State Park of nearly 10,000 acres, is located in the Southernmost part of the Appalachian Chain. A scenic drive to the top of Double Oak Mountain provides views comparable to those found in The Great Smokey Mountains. The park has cabins, situated around a 45-acre lake. Boats, paddle boats. They have guided groups horse trail rides, and hay rides. An 18-hole championship course, that Jerry and Terry played on one day. The park has beautiful sites for camping and RV's, fishing, boating, and lots of trails. We saw several people bike riding along the trails. We definitely will stay here the next time we visit in this area.

Visiting the Moore Family, Birmingham, AL

We really didn't go to Birmingham to find a Pepsi banner, although, it was a bonus, it was to see the Moore family. Meet Terry, and of course, yours truly Jerry and our friend, Chuck, our drivers. We were very fortunate to have Heidi and Charles drive us everywhere. It is great seeing them again, it has been about a year. They moved to Birmingham to work as a family pastor, along with numerous other duties, in the church he grew up in. These are their 4 daughters who have always called Jerry "Chief". Lisa and I worked together and we attended their church in Visalia, CA periodically. It will be fun to go back and spend a week with them. It took approximately 2 hours to drive from Rogersville to Birmingham to scout out a RV park. We look forward to spending some time with them.
