While visiting in Birmingham, we checked out this park. Oak Mountain, Alabama's largest State Park of nearly 10,000 acres, is located in the Southernmost part of the
Appalachian Chain. A scenic drive to the top of Double Oak Mountain provides views comparable to those found in The Great Smokey Mountains. The park has cabins, situated around a 45-acre lake. Boats, paddle boats. They have guided groups horse trail rides, and hay rides. An 18-hole championship course, that Jerry and Terry played on one day. The park has beautiful sites for camping and
RV's, fishing, boating, and lots of trails. We saw several people bike riding along the trails. We definitely will stay here the next time we visit in this area.
